Introduction

My name is Daniel and I have a strange preoccupation for walking. Despite owning a car and working a full time(plus) job, I walk anywhere from 40-70 miles every week(occasionally at the expense of sleep.)

My walks are sometimes in the woods, but predominantly in the urban areas of Northeast New Jersey. I prefer a scenic walk, but after a couple miles when the endorphins kick in its almost irrelevant where I am physically.

My longest walk to date was approximately 27 miles (a little over a marathon distance.) I intend to exceed that in the coming months.

Like most people, I initially began walking as a way to lose weight and develop fitness. After awhile its become a form of escapism. Most of my job involves computers and after 10 or more hours a day all I want to do is move around and be outside. I've walked in downpours, blizzards and even a hurricane. None of this deters me.

Hopefully this blog will be of some interest to others, if for no other reason, as a close up study of my particular OCD.
